A podiatrist is a doctor that treats conditions of the foot and ankle. After college, he/she must attend a four year post-graduate school of podiatric medicine and obtain a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree, before entering practice. In addition, many podiatrists will obtain additional training such as surgery, through a residency program, lasting from one to four years.
